*Snell-Zimmerman-Timmerman Family Reunion*
*Fall / Winter 2020 Newsletter*

Hello family members
I hope everyone is well in these troubled times of the Covid19 virus and
the presidential election. These issues will soon be resolved and we need
start thinking about our family reunion in August 2021. Because of the
virus, the board decided not to hold our family reunion this past summer
and it was the first time in decades that we could not enjoy our family
union. The board held the fall meeting in the field/cemetery outside the
church (obeying the social distancing guideline) to address the issues and
to close the church for the winter season.
The board reviewed the below items in the meeting
· The windows on the north side of the building are still out for
repair and the repair is expected to completed by the end of the year. It
will be great when all of the windows are back in the church and operating
correctly.
· Painting of the church is still in process but was delayed due to
the availability of the painter this summer. The painter is planning to
complete the scraping and painting of the front wall by next spring. After
the exterior painting is completed, we will start looking at bids for
painting the interior of the building.
· The handicap ramp will be installed before the 2021 reunion.
· The mowing contract was renewed because we were very pleased with
the work they did last year.
· The lights in the front windows will be replaced in 2021. The
carpenter needs to make an opening to get to the lights to replace the
bulbs.
· We need to address some of the stone markers which are leaning
over a little
· The rope on the flag pole needs to be replaced again due to the
strong winds of the winter.
· We had one wedding in October and the second wedding was canceled
due to size of the wedding would not be compliant with the ever changing
state rules.
o We prefer to only hold weddings at the church for family members
instead of the open public
· Our family patent needs to be restored and we have to find the
correct restorer to work on the patent. We prefer to have it worked on
locally

We received some genealogy from the Garlock family and the board members
will start reviewing the data this winter. We always enjoy receiving family
genealogy information whenever we can and we keep these records available
to members doing research and preserve it for our children.
The DAR and other organizations are not accepting some of the family
genealogy books. We may have information available to help out our family
members in this situation. Since the websites (i.e. Ancestry, Wiki) have
incorrect or false information on genealogy, better documentation is
required to prove various lines. We have many files of letters written by
various family members that did research of our family lines which are from
the 1940s to 1970’s. This research was performed by Emma Timmerman, Carolyn
Sidenius, Edith Timmerman, David Martin, Charles Markell and many others in
the family. Because of this research, we have documentation that are
accurate and can help you link the family lines.
Please send us family information on birth, marriages and deaths of family
members so we can keep our records up to date. Right now, our genealogy
books are missing the latest generations of the various families. These
genealogy books are great for the history of the family and to help prove
lineage. These books were written in 1970s and the current family history
is not included. We need our family members to send in updated information
of current family members. This data is stored in the Snells Bush Church
and only family members have access to it.
Please contact us if you have any questions or need any research. We will
try to help. We like to hear from you and we hope to see everyone next year
at the family reunion. Please contact us if you change your mailing
address or e-mail we are trying to keep our records up to date. Remember
even though our genealogy books are old ----- they contain alot of history
of the family and many wonderful stories of the early settlers living on
the frontier. These book make gifts to family members -- especially for
family members just learning the history of the family. We are very proud
of our history and every family member needs to know the history of the
family. It is especially important to children to learn the history of the
family as our history is how our nation began and has prospered though out
the year. Remember history is not taught as much as it was in past years.
And our children need to know our history.
Though out the years, the SZT family members have done many interesting
things that have improved America. These stories are outstanding, such as
living on the frontier, looking for gold in California, medical doctor on
the frontier, defending their homes from hostile Colonial Powers and
Indians, homesteading in Canada or Mexico and exploring the plains of our
country.
Kevin Jorrey our web master would like family stories to put on the web. We
need to put new items on the web—photos as always nice to send to Kevin.
Please also send up date on the genealogy of your family. The information
is only the name put on the web—no other information.

It takes a lot of time and funds to keep our Snells Bush Church in order
and funds are always needed. Currently, the only way that we receive funds
is from donations from our family members and the ice cream social. There
are two ways that you can donate to our church to keep the reunion going
every year. The first is by sending in donations and the second is to
volunteer for a position or run a fund raising event. We are always looking
for new types of fund raisers we are looking at our younger family members
to organize and run the event.
The SZT Family would like to wish everyone a great holiday and if you are
in the area please contact us to visit Snells Bush, we will be happy to
open the church for you to visit.
Sincerely
Bill Timmerman President
